Rhetorical Fallacies Rhetoric And Logical Thinking

Rhetorical fallacies are â€Å"errors and manipulation of rhetoric and logical thinking,† as defined by informationisbeautiful.net. Rhetorical fallacies such as affirming the consequent, appeal to pity, and undistributed middle, can be seen in any type of debate, or conversation. Rhetorical fallacies are very apparent in politic related public speaking, as I have observed. This paper will examine three videos from the Meet the Press series and the rhetorical fallacies I identified in these three videos. Senator Sherrod Brown used the two fallacies of jumping to conclusions and affirming the consequent in the video â€Å"Senator Sherrod Brown - Meet The Press.† Informationisbeautiful.net says the fallacy of jumping to conclusions is â€Å"drawing a quick†¦show more content†¦In the same video, Kasich uses another fallacy, the straw man fallacy. According to informationisbeautiful.net, is a fallacy that is â€Å"creating a distorted or simplified caricature of your opponent’s argument, and then arguing against that.† In the video, Kasich talks about his views on how he would handle health care and the poor, â€Å"Because we want to stabilize health care and make sure poor people have something, people assume there’s a motive. Sometimes, people do things because they actually want to help somebody. When we do that, everybody says, ‘Well, what’s in it for them’† (7:23). Kasich makes the opposing side’s argument int o a basic concept which can be easily argued against. He also makes the opposing side’s argument into something people could easily disagree with. â€Å"Relationship Between Trump and Arpaio Began with Birtherism † is a video with four reporters tell their views on President Trump’s pardon. There are two fallacies in the video, appeal to tradition, and undistributed middle. Stem cells are cells that have the ability to generate other cells. If research continues going the way it is now stem cells could potentially reduce the need for insulin in diabetics and treat various conditions and diseases. The discovery of stem cells, how they differentiate and their potential use in medicine are very important stories. Stem Cells can be obtained two different ways, one from embryos, which are called embryonic stem cells, and one from adults, called adult stem cells. Stem cell turn into different cell types depending on the cells around them. Stem cells can turn into many different types of cell, depending on the conditions around them. The cells around them send out chemical signals that tell the stem cells what type of cell to turn into. Some of these types include blood cells, cartilage cells, fat cells, nerve cells, absorptive cells, goblet cells, Paneth cells, enteroendocrine cells, follicular cells, epidermal cells, muscle cells, and neurons. It was funny to see a robot being confused about human funny acts. Another scene, is when the demolition of the mansion of Dr. Lanning. It was actually so suspense and has thrilling a experience. Even most of the scene makes me dizzy because of those effects, because I really feel like it was so true and gives a feeling that I was actually there in that particular moment . Another scene I really cant get over is when the the cat appears on the office of Dr. Lanning with detective Spooner. It was so cute and funny scene as they venture upon going out in the demolishing mansion. The plot twist is insane. I have so many thoughts of guessing if who’s really the bad guy. Thought it was Sonny for he was so suspiscious and thinking that he might be the suspect in the murder. Also , Mr. Robertson who control VIKI because he looked like a bad person as he command Dr. Calvin to maybe deactivate Sonny because he’s kind of unique. But then, at the end I just found out that it was VIKI ( Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence) that is the bad one. I thought she was just a cool and advanced CCTV there, but she’s quietly planning to control the people. I also have that thought first that it was Mr. Robertson who send command to those whole set of robots in two big unique cars who trapped detective Spooner, but I was wrong, it was VIKI. That scene was so intense! It’s one of my favorite scene also. Additional of this is when the revolution happened with those spider-like robots climbing the tall building.
